The name of the lake is originated from French hunters from Canada. We cycled a bit after settling in then drove to Sandpoint for a hike. When someone tries to introduce Sandpoint, he cannot avoid to tell about Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced Pon-duh-ray). On arrival we were very excited to camp at springy for the first time & to be 3 miles from the long bridge.
